January 9th, 2011

Ahh Sunday. Means nothing during the school holidays but mentally its the lazy kick back and do nothing day! Unless you have 5 kids, then there is no such thing as relaxing. So last night, before I went to bed I check on all the kids as usual except to my horror, Caitlin is butt naked. She sleeps with her butt up in the air which is quite cute too lol.  Now, I know I dressed and nappied her before I put her to bed so this came as quite a shock. Not only did she undo the snaps of her pj's but she also got through the duct tape I had taped her nappy closed with. So from now on my little angel will have her nappy put on backwards, duct taped shut and her cute little stripy bonds jammies will be put on backwards. She basically slept through me redressing her last night so was quite unhappy to find that she could no longer get them off. She was yelling at me "STUUUUUUUUUCK MUMMY"...yay! Mummy 1-Caity-0.

Since the dawn of time; OK so maybe just since Sarah was a toddler we have given the kids a warm milo before Breakfast. Gives mummy a chance to wake up a bit before I have to start cooking and they love drinking "coffee" like mummy does. Of course its usually a sh*t fight over who gets the lion cup or who gets the pink cup, who gets served first, or why they have .5 mm more than someone else, but I usually still have my earplugs in and sit contently drinking my coffee while they "sort it out amongst themselves" Ok so I dont really have ear plugs, but once that liquid gold enters between my lips I go into my happy place. Nothing wakes me from the euphoria except the banshee shriek from one of them as their cup goes tumbling on the ground haha. Thankfully that is becoming less an issue now and happiness and harmony rein.

So this is supposed to be our summer. We had a horrifically cold winter this year. Made worse of course when our heating went on the fritz and it took the real estate 2 weeks to get it fixed. I have longed for the summer months for the past 6 months. I am so disappointed that it has rained and will continue to rain at least for another week. Thankfully it hasn't been overly cold and we are hovering around 15 at night and 20 during the day.  My kids have been pretty good. They are using their imaginations more but are also climbing the furniture; literally. Unfortunately we watched the last Harry Potter movie this morning when Caity was asleep. I was quite impressed how they all snuggled up on the lounge and shared nicely. It doesn't happen often but when it does it melts my heart.

While they did this, I took the time to make a gingerbread cake that a friend had posted the recipe to. It was delish!! Everyone except Paul liked it. He thought the icing was too sweet which it may of been. I  had run out of icing sugar and instead used a can of Betty Crocker Vanilla icing with some cinnamon mixed in. It made for a lovely afternoon treat. I thought they deserved something nice since I decided to make us all grilled cheese sandwiches and it took me an hour... yah so not doin that again!!

(yes it says "Mum Rocks" and yes someone took a swipe of it while I got the camera lol)

We are making progress people!! She was so hesitant when I put her on a few days ago and although we have no wees or poos yet, I know shes getting the hang of it! The book thing must be genetic as I used to do the same thing so I have been told.

Just a quick note: I have my settings set now so that anyone can comment without needing a google account or password or anything. If I become really interesting to the rest of the world, I might have to change it back but for now I think this should be fine.
